Twitter users tell John Mayer to ‘be scared’ after new Taylor Swift song

John Mayer probably wishes he could “stop this train.”

Twitter-using Swifties are going after the crooner thanks to Taylor Swift’s new bonus track on “Midnights” titled “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve.”

“At 19, and the God’s honest truth is that the pain was heaven/ And now that I’m grown, I’m scared of ghosts/ Memories feel like weapons/ And now that I know, I wish you left me wondering,” Swift, 32, sings.

“If you never touched me, I would’ve gone along with the righteous/ If I never blushed, then they could’ve never whispered about this/ And if you never saved me from boredom, I could’ve gone on as I was/ But lord you made me feel important, and then you tried to erase us.”

Suffice it to say, Swift’s fans had a field day with the apparent attack on her ex-boyfriend — more than a decade later.

“John Mayer, be scared,” tweeted one Swiftie.

“Damn I wish John mayer was still with us, I know my guy would’ve absolutely loved this website if he was alive today. RIP,” tweeted another.

“JOHN MAYER COUNT YOUR F–KING DAYS!!!!” tweeted another.

“john mayer you better start running,” tweeted another user.

“john mayer is never seeing heaven for this (she was 19, he was 32. THIRTY. TWO.),” wrote another.

This is hardly the first time the “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” crooner has been attacked by his ex’s fans. Last year, Mayer responded to a Swift fan who told him to “die.”

“f–k yourself you ugly bitch i hope you choke on something <3,” the Swiftie named Alondra wrote in a message to Mayer, according to screenshots posted by Instagram account @deux.discusssions.

The persistent user later messaged the “New Light” singer again, writing, “answer me you bitch.”

Seemingly having had enough, Mayer, 45, responded, writing, “Hi Alondra, it’s John. I’ve been getting so many messages like these the past couple of days. I decided to choose your message at random to reply to. You can feel free to screen shot, share in any way you like if you want.”

He continued, “I’m not upset, I just tend to have a curious mind and feel compelled to ask. Do you really hope that I die?”

Alondra then wrote back, “OMG WHAT i don’t want you to DIE” along with a 30-second voice note with audio that doesn’t appear to have been released. She then apologized to the singer, writing, “i’m sorry.”

Mayer and Swift dated from 2009 to 2010 when he was 32 and she was 19. Her “Speak Now” song “Dear John” is widely assumed to be about him.
